I have followed Holistic MBA for the past 2 years. I went to a LIVE conference in New York City last August and came back with so many actions to take that really launched my career. I finally got a taste of the good life when I started adding adventure in my life on a daily basis. It all started by taking walks during my lunch breaks with friends from work, occasionally by myself.
In the winter months, I would drive home during my work day, make a quick-yet-gourmet lunch, eat it and head back to work.
Before work, I would spend time getting ready.
After work I would do something that felt fulfilling.

I started to find adventure in different ways:
Playing outside
Gymnastics
Soccer
Swimming
Going on dates
Meeting new people
Trying new food
Surfing undiscovered areas of the Internet
Organizing a new area of my life
Opening a business
Organizing other businesses
Building website after website
Learning
Investing in my future

Creating beauty wherever I go..

The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.
You do not have to wait until you are grown up to live an adventurous life.

You can be whoever you want as long as you are seeking adventure.

Today, I find adventure in learning new skills, refreshing old skills, and creating ideas that will lead to tomorrow’s success.
I am putting my ideas into action.
I am enjoying the essence of creativity.
I am seeing where my mind takes me.
I am letting go.
I am enjoying every second of it.
I am promising myself that if I ever get bored of this I will do something new.
Boredom is not necessary, therefore I will not let it consume my life anymore. Adventure it is!

Happy International Women’s Day. A day to celebrate how far we have come, and how far we will continue to grow.

Years ago, and still extremely prominent in countries around the world, people have been suffering.

Take a snapshot of today’s world.

Now, imagine the world 20 years from now. We will say, “Remember when there were only men presidents?”.

I believe we will look back to today as the time women noticed they could create their own freedom and feel liberated, no strings attached. A time when they could create any type of business and lifestyle because they realized the “normal” way was a huge load of BULL SHIT.

Women around the globe are truly inspirational. Women are nurturers and will change the world through connection and community. I take a look at certain women and see so much untapped potential. Have you ever felt that way?

The next time you see an inspirational woman do a test. You can engage women by speaking directly to their values and encouraging their active participation. Explore their ideas and see if you can help her put the thoughts into action. With women on your side, you’ll both build a community and begin the change you want to see in the world.

I have been so lucky to be able to be a life coach. For many years I have worked in women run businesses. The area of growth where I have always been the most attracted is personal and business growth. I love connecting with people, especially women. We all have so much to learn from women. Listen and absorb.

Lets start with the basics. WATER. Can you imagine spending more time collecting water in a day than doing anything else? The long walk to collect your contaminated water is dangerous. You have 40 lbs of water on your back, with risk of being attacked on your walk. Then you bring that water home to your family, and your family has the risk of dying from the contaminated water. Well, it is time to solve this problem. And the solution is more available than ever before. Improving water around the world will create a ripple effect. Missionaries of Charity :

Since I was a little girl, Mother Teresa has always been my hero. I vowed in 4th grade that I would follow in Mother Teresa’s footsteps and I will continue to do so. I am raising money to put my healthy hands to good use and spend time taking care of the poorest of the poor in Kolkata, India. My goal is to raise enough money to spend one month in India saving lives of many helpless individuals who all have big hearts. I know this will transform my life and the lives of others. I believe that if we are able to empower others, they will do great things in the world.

My goal for this volunteer journey is to empower a community of women to work together in order to bring their village out of poverty.

Full Circle Exchange

Not only do I believe in empowering women, I also believe in art. Full Circle Exchange provides an opportunity for women who have been saved from human trafficking to create a life of freedom. These beautiful women put their hearts and souls into creating beautiful scarves, accessories, and more.

I came across Full Circle Exchange after researching human trafficking and wondering what came next for the women who had been saved. Women in areas of high level sex trafficking often do not have another option for work. They are forced into this terrible world and think nothing of themselves. They want out but know they risk their lives if they get out of human trafficking. Once these ladies are saved, they are sent to safe houses. The Full Circle Exchange creates a dignified job for these amazing, spiritual women who want to live a new life.

Girls Fight Back :

Self defense and self protection are an important priority for women. Chances are one in four women will be attacked during her lifetime. Instead of letting a horrifying situation stop you from living life, I believe it is time to educate ourselves in self defense. Girls Fight Back is an organization to help women become stronger and learn self defense.

I will change the world by learning to take a compliment. By saying “thank you” instead of dismissing kind words.

I will change the world by standing strong. By never allowing myself to be bullied.

I will change the world by knowing when to listen to my inner critic and knowing when to tune her out.

I will change the world by trusting my gut. By knowing when my heart and mind matter but knowing when to hone in on what my instincts are saying.

I will change the world by being an example. Sometimes a good one. Sometimes not.

I will change the world by allowing myself to fail. And by not beating myself up when it inevitably happens.

I will change the world by allowing myself to succeed. And not apologizing for or downplaying it.

I will change the world by keeping my sense of humor. Because how boring would life be without it?

I will change the world by not apologizing for who I am or what I want. But by going after it in a fair, respectful, admirable way.

I will change the world by bringing others with me on my journey. Because what good are we if we don’t share our success with others?

I will change the world by being unique. Because there are enough copycats out there.

I will change the world by acknowledging everything it’s taken to get where I’m at. And everything it will take to get me where I’m going.

More than anything – I will change the world by inspiring the uninspired. By awakening something within others that they didn’t know existed.

Behind Every Mom

Ok, that may sound a bit conceited. Give me a chance to explain.

I have always been a happy-go-lucky type of person. I go with the flow and know that everything will work out the way it is supposed to. That is the hardest thing for many people to understand. Some people have gotten frustrated with me for being “too easy going”.

Let me tell you a little story. When I was 19, I moved down to Florida to do an internship at Walt Disney World. I was only supposed to be down there for a semester and then I would move back home to finish up my Associates Degree before heading off to my next destination which was to be my Bachelors Degree.

A month into my internship I met an amazing guy.  He quickly became my boyfriend. 3 months later, as I was heading home, I faced one of the hardest days of my entire life. There was so much uncertainty. We waited until he was taking me to my terminal to even have our first discussion of whether or not we would stay together.

He was 23 and I was 19. He had previously been in a serious relationship, for about 5 years. I was the type of girl who would date but never settle on a boyfriend for more than a month. The conversation didn’t last long because we were both head over heals for each other, and said it would be crazy to not continue dating, even from a distance. We knew this would be a hard time without seeing each other. We both knew that if it was supposed to work out the way we had hoped, then it would…no questions asked.

About 2 weeks later, I found out some news that would change our lives forever. I was pregnant. When I found out, I can’t say I knew what to do. I was babysitting that weekend, and the only “person” in the room with me was a dog. I turned to the dog, Feebi, and asked if everything was going to be ok. Just putting that question out there, and a couple of tears, I knew that everything WAS going to be ok.

I waited until the next morning, called my boyfriend and told him the news. He had the same positive attitude that I did. Everything would work out the way it was supposed to.

A month later, I flew back down to Florida for a quick weekend trip. I was surprised by a super sweet proposal while I was down there. Again, our lives changed forever.

A couple months later, Troy was moving up to Illinois to live with me and my parents until we could make a good plan. We did not have a house of our own, he did not have a job up north, there were many unanswered questions. Again, we knew it would work itself out.

I can not tell you the amount of times during the first few months of pregnancy that people asked me “So, what are you going to do?”. Person after person would get mad at me for saying, “it will work itself out the way it is supposed to”.

One of my Disney Roommates recently made a Facebook post that I would like to share:

So 4 years ago, I lived in a bubble that is called Disney…since then, Ryan and I have broken up for 8 months, gotten back together, gotten engaged, gotten married, and we have a little bean on the way, I started a photography business, I worked at Res for 2 years, I now own a dance studio, and Ryan is on his second job. So people who are in a slump, just know that a LOT can happen in a short period of time.

What a great perspective on life. All of that happened for her 4 years folks.  Lets take a look at my 4 years.

TIMELINE:

2008-

• (Aug) Walt Disney World Internship

2009-

• (January) 21^st Birthday!
• (April) Quit Advertising Job on a Wednesday, Wedding that Saturday, Honeymoon following week, Start new job at Louie’s Daycare following Monday.

• (June) Enroll at Full Sail University to finish Bachelors Degree in Internet Marketing
• (October) Move to Indy, become stay at home mom. Louie 1!
• (Full Time in School, year round)

2011-

• (January) Start working from home
• (February) Open Delano Marketing LLC
• (April) 1 year anniversary!
• (October) Louie 2! – Hey Family, We’re Pregnant!
• (December) Move to new Indianapolis Suburb.

2012-

Those are just some of my highlights. I didn’t need a set plan. I had a picture in mind, and worked towards that outcome.  Everything turned out bigger and better than I could have ever imagined.

Guess what people? We do get shocking news sometimes. We can have slumps. Your life will unfold the way you consciously want it to. I have chosen to make my life the best and most positive it can be. You can too. I challenge you to have an even MORE perfect life than I have. (Good luck, my perfect life has just begun!)

 I was 1 when my parents decided to move across the country for work.  My father was a nuclear engineer and had to go where there was work.  New york to California, then back to New jersey.  Twice again, and 5 at this point, it happened again.  Yanked out of schools and use to being alone, I grew up thinking I would always suffer this abrupt ending to a settled satisfaction.

My parents had disheveled self pasts and severed relationships with both sides of family and tragic loss of family and betrayal.  My brother’s and I suffered this loss.  We only had each other, and our family dog.  I remember losing her at the age of 4.  This feeling became natural..losing what I was comfortable with.  I was highly sheltered and didn’t have the same opportunities as others my age.

At the age of 19, I started to rebel, and found I could make my own decisions.  Not a smart move, (as I now know), but still, it felt great.  The first strong male I came across, I became pregnant, and married after my son was 2 weeks old.  I was forced to move in with his parents in a house that should of been condemned.  Hating my situation, I snapped into my senses, and realized that I loved to be a mother, and should be a good wife, no matter what!  I finished school at the community college, and got a job at HSBC credit bank.  Life seemed better, until my husband started coming home late after work, and smelling of a perfume that wasn’t my own.

Being so young and not experiencing life before a baby and married life, I had no clue what I was doing.  The feeling of betrayal still sickens the most bottom lowest point of my stomach.  I had two children with him at this point, and had never had a chance to become who I AM without him.  Every day, I went to the church by my house.  Even if I had to bring the kids.  It was quiet there, candles lit, and a place to kneel and ask God to help me.  Please, save me from this hollowness…this pain..Why is this happening, and HOW could this happen to me?  I’m a great person..right?  Cooked dinner, woke up in the middle of the night to feed the baby, worked out, tried to look my best?  Why is this happening?

At this point of suffering, and begging my husband to fix things and not leave me, after countless lost days of depression, and doubt of self worth, friends meeting me for coffee to listen to my sad tales, seeing the tears in my children’s eyes of sadness and lives torn apart, I finally realized, it’s time.

I had to go through the pain, the imaginable feelings of distrust and worlds torn apart.  Having the hate in my blood to be disgusted that I let myself get into this situation.  Having built the strength to KNOW I can get out of it.  That I don’t need OR deserve it!  What took me so long!

What took me so long, was that I didn’t have the self esteem that most kids had instilled in them as a child.  They weren’t ripped out of schools and torn away from friends and relationships they had built.  They had the chance to see who they were as an individual, before joining as a couple.  I HAD to go through what I did, to make me unstoppable today!  I may have flaws, I may not be perfect, I may have emotions, and make bad decisions…but I KNOW I can survive on my own.

….And that is what makes me..the perfect other half.

How Do I Want to Change the World?—

I have to admit that when Theresa first asked me to write this post, I was a bit nervous and had no idea what I wanted to say or where this post would even begin.

My entire life, I have always wanted to be someone who makes an impact.  I wanted a job and career that had meaning to me and to other people, and above all I wanted to have an effect on other people’s lives, if even just for a moment.

Growing up, and throughout college I chose the art of music and performance as my outlet of creative energy.  I loved that when I was on stage, I was impacting the way at least one person in the audience felt.  I was helping maybe one person to forget about any problems they may have in their current life while they were lost in the performance happening on the stage before them.  I loved that when I performed, it not only made me happy, it made other people happy.

 My current creative outlet, while I still love music and can’t wait to be on the stage again, is blogging.  I started a healthy living blog as a way to write about my healthy-most-of-the-time lifestyle, share recipes, and share workout tips and routines.  I absolutely love the blogging community along with the people that it has allowed me to meet and the things that it has allowed me to do.  For me, I write about the lifestyle that I live everyday because it makes me happy, and I hope to have just one reader out there find something that I say helpful.

Now, you are probably wondering how these two things are related, and how this is “changing the world.”  As I mentioned before, when I do things I aim to do things that make an impact.

These are the things that make up me, and they are the things that I love to do.  When I sat and thought about why I actually do what I do and how I even could change the world, it all came down to one thing:

Happiness.

I sang because it made myself and others happy.  I love to workout and eat a mostly healthy diet because it makes me feel good and it makes me happy.  I want to help others realize that living a healthy lifestyle will make them feel great, possibly make it easier to do things that they want to do, and overall just make them happier people.

At the end of the day, there are a million different reasons why I do the things that I do but it all boils down to the happiness factor.  I like to be happy, and I love to make others happy.  I want to make others happy in the moment, happy with their body image, happy with their lives, happy period.

I met a girl named Evita at the wedding of my “favorite cousin Annie” and “favorite new cousin Al”. Evita has been Al’s friend for quite some time. My cousins and I had planned a flash mob to surprise my cousin Annie, and several of her friends learned the dance too. Evita knew the dance better than anyone in the bunch. We talked about the dance the entire night and she became my new friend.

Several hours later, we were new Facebook friends. It didn’t take me long to realize that her positive attitude was not alcohol induced at the wedding; she truly was that happy and energetic on a daily basis.

I can’t even put into words how inspired I am by her over-the-top, always positive attitude. I figured she must create a ton of positivity and have a great family who supports her.

That is when I found out about her and her sister. You see, Evita and her sister are extremely close, just like my sister and I. They speak their own language with each other, they lean on each other for support, and raise each other’s attitude levels.

Their mom passed away when they were just kids. Evita’s sister, Danielle, 14 years old at the time, was forced to step up, so she did. Danielle helped raise Evita and their brother. As you can imagine, this would be a stressful job to take on at 14 years old, yet, she never complained.

“That’s just who she is. She’s brilliant and creative and innovative and unbelievably sweet. There is no opinion I trust or respect more than hers…I suppose its because I don’t have a mother. I have only Danielle” said Evita.

I always feel Evita is one of those people who you feel comfortable meeting. As she told me before, “It is so comforting to walk this Earth meeting good-hearted souls along the way. Some of us have this in us innately, and others must learn it.”

Her sister, is one of those good-hearted souls. It sounds like Danielle has an innate ability to touch everyone she meets. Whether it’s her smile, her unwavering kindness, her complete faith in people or her contagious quirkiness, people love her. To know her is to love her.

It sounds like it can be easy to be good-hearted, but how about while living on a hospital bed and being told you are living your last days?

Danielle was diagnosed with a brain tumor (benign). 8 years ago she had her first operation. The doctors at Loyola were so flabbergasted that she was able to function on a daily basis with regards to the size and placement of the said tumor. They offered Danielle up as a charity case for further study.

Earlier this year, where the orginal tumor had been, a more aggresive tumor grew back as a glioblastoma or grade 4 malignant tumor; the highest grade for brain cancer. In those 8 years, people never heard her complain, EVER. She never allowed her spirit to be crushed or deflated, smiling and laughing always.

For several weeks now, Danielle has been back in the hospital. So many loved ones have come. College friends flying in from all across the country, her best friend flew in from Tajikastan, Asia. The doctors gave her days and Danielle is still smiling over 2 weeks later.

“Danielle is a miracle baby. She was born at 6 months and was 1pound 14ounces. You could hold her in the palm of your hand. She was in the hospital for 45 days in an incubator, and was given 2 blood transfusions in that time. She’s always been a warrior. ” Danielle has always walked her own course and done so with humility and her head held high.

When I was told of this story, I knew that Danielle has changed the world. Not only is she a positive inspiration to fight this battle, but she has changed so many individual lives. She raised Evita and their brother to have a positive outlook on life, even when the worst gets to you.. She has changed the lives of nurses, doctors, and she even gave her battle to charity. I think of all of the research the doctors and medical researchers have done with Evita. I am confident that the medical findings will save many lives to come.

That sure sounds like changing the world to me. So, today, I ask you as you are reading this, to think of Danielle throughout your day. How many people can you smile at today? Do not compare battle sizes. I encourage you to fight your battles with a positive attitude and a smile. Give the people you love a kiss and tell them you love them.

Update: Several hours after this post was published, Danielle took her last breath. She is now with her mother and all of the precious angels looking over her friends and family.
